CCFP and the Montegut Scholarship Program

The Montegut Scholarship Program (MGSP) was established in 2010 to honor Dr. Alain Montegut, a former Board Member of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) from 2005–2010. Dr. Montegut has dedicated his career to advancing high-quality family medicine practice globally, especially in underserved and developing countries. The program reflects this vision by enabling family doctors worldwide to share knowledge, build professional networks, and drive improvements in primary care in their regions.

The MGSP was established to foster international education, research and collaboration in the speciality of family medicine. It supports the attendance of family physicians from Africa, Asia Pacific, East Mediterranean, Europe, Iberoamericana, North America and South Asia regions of the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) to attend WONCA conferences including World Conferences, Regional Conferences and Rural Conferences.

By empowering family physicians with tools, connections, and insights, we strengthen healthcare systems and improve patient care globally.
