At the beginning of this month 130 children from across the country were treated to a football clinic by Digicel. Both girls and boys from ages six to 16 came from as far as the north coast, Arouca, Chaguanas, even Point Fortin, to King George V Park in St Clair for the Digicel Caribbean Championships Football Clinic, where they were coached by none other than Shaka Hislop, former national goalkeeper. Hislop encouraged the children to hold positive values and remember how important discipline is in sport, as well as doing well in school. He told them that when he did well in his exams he always excelled on the field. ’Seek advice from your coaches and parents at all times,’ Hislop insisted.
